I think the Dems believe that the female vote so favors them that they just have to keep from affirmatively messing up. Certainly Mrs. Heinz/Kerry should help John prove that female appearance is not the most important thing to him.

The Republicans' emphasis on "NASCAR dads" is evidence that they feel they have already lost the majority of the female vote.

What is the true importance of NASCAR dads? The key ones are the guys who live near or North of the Mason-Dixon line in states like Ohio and Missouri and Michigan and Pennsylvania.

Unless GWB immediately comes out in favor of, say, mandatory sterilization for all men, he wins the southern NASCAR dad. He just wants enough Northern rednecks to win a state like Ohio or Missouri or Michigan. He wins one of those, he is in for four more years.
