It's clear that women are not high on Bush's agenda (I'll agree with Lori on that). But I haven't really heard any of the Dem candidates make women or families an issue either. In a media environment smothered by terror, war, and the economy, (and, lately, gay marriage) women, childcare and related issues are drowned out -- and it if unlikely that this will change any time soon. I guess for now, these are viewed as discretionary rather than vital issues -- and will just have to wait.
