My wife stays home with our children and is the best Mom I have ever seen. One reason is that even though she created a great environment and setup for the kids and is constantly thinking about how to make their lives good and productive, she does other things besides being a mother (and we all like that she has a life beyond us even though the family comes first), and I help her to do them. We share parenting and household stuff pretty equally. Unfair to me? I don't think so. I think it's unfair to the Dads who don't get the chance to know how awesome being with kids is. Sometimes I wish I could be the one that was home and I know what I'm talking about since I was there for paternity leave. If I hadn't taken it, I never would have really known and I would have lost out.
