Of course mothers today have more responsibilities than our mothers did. My mother took care of us when we were little. She also had household help. She got no help from my father, though. She did not try to combine motherhood with a career when we were small and there were tons of moms for her to hang with. Plus, she didn't think it was lesser to stay home. Money went farther then too.
So she had it easier than mothers who stay home and mothers who work. But was it better? I don't really think so. I think she would choose to be more equal, and I have certainly done so.
